Carbothello Pastel Pencil

A list of the characteristics of the Carbothello Pastel Pencil, the chalk-pastel colouring pencil:
-Wonderfully dry and dusty stroke, just like pastels and charcoal.
-Can be dry mixed and blended or wetted and used as a watercolour.
-Brilliant results on dark backgrounds, too.
-Available in 60 shades, in sets and individually.
-High pigmentation guarantees great luminosity and opacity as well as colour-fastness and colour brilliance.
-Asterisks mark each pencil’s light-fastness.

Peter Weatherill’s website Coloured Pencil Topics is a valuable resource for artists working in coloured pencils as well as other artists.
As he explains: “Some of the notes relate to general art topics like perspective and composition, but most cover the teaching I have been doing over the last few years with coloured pencils.”

Attended the UKCPS exhibition : A Celebration of Creative Art

We attended the Private View of A Celebration of Creative Art
the UK Coloured Pencil Society’s 10th Annual Open Exhibition on Sunday evening in Westminster. The large exhibition of work by members of the society in a variety of styles was grouped mostly by subject and contained some impressive work. We both particularly liked Amber Halsall’s Going, Going, Gone a botanical treatment of a tree trunk with three stages of beautifully peeling bark.

There was also a “have a go” area for trying some drawing, reproduction prints for sale and in a silent auction, books and materials for sale, and a display of pencils and the company history from Faber-Castell a sponsor of the exhibition. During the rest of the exhibition there will be a large selection of workshops from well-known artists. The exhibition and workshops continue until October 1st.
